The Akron Rebels baseball team posted a 10-0 win over Dakota Valley Pilots June 15 at Sargent Field. The Rebels stand at an impressive 9-2 record.
The winning pitcher on Saturday was Jared Kirkeby, who pitched seven innings of the eight-inning 10-run rule game. He struck out seven Pilots hitters and allowed three hits and one walk.
The Rebels jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Adam Loutsch walked and later scored on a RBI double by Randall Waterbury who later scored; Chad Brown walked and scored; Brett Stolpe had an RBI single and scored; Tanner Bundy had a single; Kirkeby was hit by a pitch and Jordan Heyl had an RBI single.
Adam Loutsch walked and scored a run in the second inning as he came home on an RBI double by Noah Bohlmann. Brown reached on an error; Stolpe walked but the Pilots got the next two hitters out so it stood at 5-0 Rebels.
The home team’s lead grew to 8-0 in the fourth inning. Waterbury led off the fourth and was hit by a pitch and scored a run; Bohlmann and Doug Loutsch walked and scored; Stolpe had a two-RBI single; Kirkeby had a sacrifice fly RBI.
Adam Loutsch singled and scored in the fifth inning on an RBI by Waterbury on a single.
Bohlmann doubled to start the eighth inning and scored when Stolpe had a sacrifice fly out.
Kirkeby not only was dominant on the mound but also in center field as he fired a strike to Bohlmann to get a Pilots’ runner for a double play.
For the Rebels, Adam Loutsch walked twice, was 1-for-3 officially and scored two runs.
Waterbury was 2-for-5, had a double and scored two runs.
Bohlmann was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Chad Brown walked, reached on an error and scored one run.
Doug Loutsch walked and scored one run.
Stolpe was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and scored one run.
Bundy was 1-for-4 with one single.
Heyl was 1-for-2 with one single.
The Rebels beat Vermillion Grey Sox 7-4
The Rebels scored three runs in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead and held off the Grey Sox on June 5.
Bundy was 4-for-5, all singles and one run scored.
Doug Loutsch was 3-for-6 with two runs scored.
Hanson was 2-for-4 with one walk and one run scored.
Heyl was 1-for-4 with one run scored;.
Davenport was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Adam Loutsch was 1-for-4 with one run scored and a walk.
Waterbury had a 2-for-2 game with a double, two walks, one RBI and one run scored.
Brown had two walks.
Stolpe had an RBI single.
Ben Brown was the winning pitcher.
Garretson 4, Rebels 0
Garretson, S.D. scored one run in the third inning and three in the seventh to win the contest 4-0 on June 12.
Leadoff man for the Rebels, Mike Davenport, started the game with a single and was moved to second by Adam Loutsch. Waterbury singled but the next two hitters were retired.
In the second inning Ben Brown, the starting pitcher, walked but did not advance.
In the third, with one out, Adam Loutsch walked. Waterbury singled but the next two hitters were retired.
Stolpe reached on a single in the sixth inning. Brown started the ninth with a single and Blaze Hanson reached on an error but two outs ended the rally.
Davenport was 1-for-4.
Adam Loutsch reached on a fielder’s choice and a walk.
Waterbury was 2-for-4.
Brown was 1-for-4.
Stolpe was 1-for-4.
Hanson reached on an error.
Brown reached on a walk.
Rebels 4, Saints 3, June 10
The Rebels took a 4-3 lead in their second inning and made it stand up as the final score behind Bundy’s pitching win, June 10 at Sargent Field.
In the second inning, Bundy reached on an error and scored; Doug Loutsch walked and scored; Heyl then had a key RBI single; Davenport had a RBI single and scored due to errors; Waterbury also reached base with a single.
Doug Loutsch reached for the second time as he singled in the third inning but did not score.
Davenport got his second hit for the game in the fourth inning but did not score.
Davenport was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
Waterbury was 1-for-2 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
Brown had a walk.
Stolpe reached on a fielder’s choice.
Bundy reached on an error and scored a run.
Doug Loutsch walked and was 2-for-3 and scored one run.
Hanson walked and scored one run.
Heyl had one RBI.
In the Saints’ eighth, they got a hit and a walk but did not score a run. They had closed the gap to 4-3 in the seventh.
Bundy had two strikeouts in as the Saints went down in order in the ninth.
