Kayla Tindall pitches for the Westerners in the Remsen Union game.

June 12 proved to be a good night for the A-W Westerner girls.

In a double-header at home, the Westerners used 10 hits to score 10 runs to dispose of the Lady Rockets in a five-inning affair. The final score was A-W 10, R-U Rockets, 0.

A-W opened by scoring three runs in the first after two were out. A-W pounded out four hits and a Rocket error. Kortney Hedlund started it off with a single. Dana Hedlund got on by an error, and Bailey Davis doubled both home. Then Davis scored on Haley Coyle’s hit.

A-W scored one in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to end the game in five innings.

Kortney Hedlund, Haley Coyle, and Katie Johnson all had two hits each for A-W.

Kayla Tindall pitched the first four innings for A-W, giving up one hit and striking out 10. Dana Hedlund finished up for A-W.

Defensively, A-W played well and it was highlighted by a great running catch in center by Desi Oltmanns.

No. 2- Near Perfection!!!

Dana Hedlund pitched five-and-one-third innings of perfection in another A-W win, 9 to 1.

Hedlund retired the first 16 R-U Rocket hitters in a row as A-W built a 6-0 lead.

A-W again scored four runs in the first inning after two were out. Kayla Tindall got on by an error. Dana Hedlund followed with a fielder’s choice. With two on, Bailey Davis singled to be followed by Haley Coyle’s double. Katie Johnson got a hit to give A-W a good lead.

A-W scored two in the third, two more in the fifth and one more in the sixth to total up nine runs. Haley Coyle led A-W hitters by getting two doubles and a single. Jaclyn Smith and Katie Johnson contributed two hits apiece.

Hedlund threw a great game which unfortunately was marred by two fielding errors, which led to one Rocket run. Hedlund kept her composure and finished strong to end it.

A-W had a couple of fielding gems in this game. All in one play, Bailey Davis backhanded a shot down the line, who threw across to Bethany Eastman, who dug out a low throw. Excellent! A-W’s record now stands at a neat 16-1.
