Orange City’s Unity Christian were the visitors on a lovely evening June 13.

The A-W girls had little trouble with the Knights of Unity Christian as they defeated them 11-0.

A-W held the Knights to one lone hit as Kayla Tindall shut them down for three innings. Bailey Davis came in to hurl the last two frames to finish the shutout.

A-W scored three times in the first inning as A-W used five hits. Kayla Tindall started things off with a double. Jaclyn Smith, Kortney Hedlund, Haley Coyle and Katie Johnson all had their hand in the scoring.

A-W tallied five more runs in the second as A-W sent 10 batters to the plate. Kayla Tindall walked as well as Jaclyn Smith. The Hedlund girls, Davis and Coyle all got base hits. Jordan Hansen put the finishing touches on for the five runs to make it 8-0.

A-W scored two in the third and one more in the fourth. A-W had 12 hits for the night while UC had one.

Tindall struck out eight while walking none. A-W’s record is now 17-1 and they remain the third-ranked in Class 1A.

Our friend, Doug “the walking man,” broke his record again as he walked 20-plus miles — 42,859 steps on June 12!
