Garretson had the long ball going for it as the Blue Jays clubbed three home runs for five RBIs total in a 12-2 rout of the Akron Rebels July 12 at Sargent Field.
The Rebels scored their runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Akron’s record was 12-5 after the loss.
Down 6-0 the Rebels scored a run as Tanner Bundy walked and later tallied on a fielder’s choice play by Mike Davenport. Jordan Heyl also reached in the inning on an error.
The Rebels scored their second run in the seventh on an RBI single by Adam Loutsch. Noah Bohlmann started the inning with a single and scored the run.
The highlight came for the Rebels on defense when they turned four double plays and shortstop Davenport was involved in all.
For the Rebels Davenport reached on a fielder’s choice.
Noah Bohlmann singled and scored a run, reached on a fielder’s choice and walked.
Brett Stolpe walked twice, singled and reached on an error.
Adam Loutsch had two singles and was 2-for-4.
Doug Loutsch walked and scored a run.
Heyl reached on an error.
Blaze Hansen was the starting pitcher and took the loss. Bundy and Stolpe also pitched.
The Rebels played Crofton July 16 here in a rescheduled game. The Rebels close the regular season by hosting Larchwood at 7:30 p.m., July 19.
The District tournament is July 24 – 31 hosted by Larchwood.
