There will be plenty of activities for all ages this weekend as the first-ever Akron Summer Detour celebration begins Friday.

“The Akron Summer Detour was just an idea in December 2012 when a group of Akron residents decided Akron needs a weekend to celebrate “OUR TOWN,” according to Akron Summer Detour Committee Chairperson Nikki Jurgensen. “Those of us who live here, have lived here, or are just starting to live here, know that Akron is very community oriented, and they are willing to come together to help a family, person or organization in need.”
