The Akron Rebels baseball team faced the District host Larchwood squad and was shut out, 9-0, in South Dakota Amateur Baseball Tournament District action July 27.
The Rebels, 14-7 record, battled Beresford July 30 in an elimination round game at Larchwood. A win and the Rebels continued to the South Dakota Amateur State Baseball Tournament, Class B, in Sioux Falls, starting Aug. 7.
Larchwood led 3-0 after a three-run third inning, had a home run in the fifth inning, then a five-run sixth inning settled the matter. Chase Vander Feen, a West Sioux alumnus, walked, singled and scored a run for Larchwood.
For the Rebels
Noah Bohlmann, the leadoff man, had a single and was 1-for-4.
Randall Waterbury walked, singled, was hit by a pitch and grounded out.
Brett Stolpe was 2-for-4 with two singles.
Scott Jacobs reached on a fielder’s choice and an error.
Tanner Bundy was 1-for-4 with a single.
