At their July 30 meeting, Plymouth County supervisors approved a bid package for the installation of fiber optic cable. The vote was 4-0 with Supervisor Jim Henrich absent.

Supervisors approved setting a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on Aug. 27 during their regular meeting to open the bids.

The route for the fiber optics cable will be from the Plymouth County Courthouse in Le Mars to the Plymouth County Emergency Management Association building to the Plymouth County Engineer’s Office.

The project also includes the removal of a communications tower from the Plymouth County Courthouse. The project is expected to cost about $800,000.

A project meeting will be held Aug. 14.

Auditor Stacey Feldman said IT Director Shawn Olson will send the bid packages to local firms who may be potentially interested. The bid packages will also be on the county’s website,

Olson was thanked by county supervisors for his efforts in putting together the bid package.
