Hawarden Associated Church will host the monthly Community Free Supper July 23. The Hawarden Community Foundation has awarded the event a $6,300 grant. At the Tuesday supper the main menu items were hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream for dessert. Yvonne Sligh, Heather Sabin and Chris Waterman served up the suppers. Jeanette McPherson, Charlene Lill and Sandy Kuiper helped with the ice cream table. Several volunteers washed dishes in the kitchen and there was a bread room and coffee, too. Aug. 20 will be the next free Hawarden Community Supper with serving starting at 5:00 p.m.
