Skeeter, the circus clown, will be visiting Akron from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 15.

She will be inviting all to come to the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Skeeter, who is Culpepper & Merriweather’s Goodwill Ambassador, will present 20-minute programs to children of all ages the week before the circus trucks arrive in town.

On Aug. 15, Skeeter will tell about the history of the circus and what it’s like to live at the circus and travel from place to place. Her presentation includes skits, fun and information.

Although Skeeter won’t have any tickets to sell, she will distribute educational exercises and coloring sheets to the children she sees.

Children who color the coloring sheet will be entered in a coloring contest. In addition, each coloring sheet has a coupon for $1 off the cost of a pony ride.

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, there will be two circus performances. The first show will be at 5 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. Both will be held under the big top tent, which will be set up in the Akron Business Park (the former Akron airport grounds).

Tickets are available at Akron Lanes, Maynard’s Foods, Peoples Bank, Security National Bank and Thorson Drug.

Before midnight Aug. 20, ticket prices are $6 for children ages 2 – 12 and $10 for adults. On the day of the circus, ticket prices increase so get your tickets soon!
