Season begins for A-W Dancers

The Akron-Westfield Danz Squad began their new season with attending camp at Lake Okoboji. The students took classes and danced for over 9 hours each day learning new routines for the coming year. Dancers were awarded ribbons for technique, spirit, showmanship and all-around dance ability.

1st Row: Lexi Hageman, Bethany Eastman, Eliza Kjar, and Kali Kriener. 2nd Row: Jessen Wood, Makayla Swancutt, Sarah Schroeder, Chandra DeRocher, and Desi Oltmanns. 3rd Row: Marlenne Arreola, Alex Franker, Maddie Hemmelrick, Ericka Swoyer, Kaberly Coyle, and Jessica Hansen. 4th Row: Natalie Harvey, Briannah Watkins, McKenna Kutz, Lexi Hughes, Trisha Frerichs, Zoe Mullinix, and Kylie Dumas.

Top Gun medals were given to Makayla Swancutt, kick; Kali Kriener, pom; and Bethany Eastman, hip hop.

At the end of camp, the following students were chosen to try out for the All-Iowa state honor dance team: Bethany Eastman, Eliza Kjar, Sarah Schroeder, Lexi Hageman, Kali Kriener, and Makayla Swancutt.

Instructors at the camp were Natasia Eastman and Kayla Cain. Co-directors Natasia Eastman and Val Philips attended as camp directors. Special thanks to parents, Annette Bosse and Chris Harvey, who served as chaperones.
