Hummel tabbed sWEC Honorable Mention

Porter Hummel, a West Sioux freshman, gained All-War Eagle Conference honorable mention honors for the this past baseball season.

Hummel had a 3-4 pitching record with 55 strikeouts in 46-and-two-thirds innings pitched. He allowed 27 walks, four hit-batsman, 24 earned runs in his eight starts. As a hitter, he was 12-for-54 at-bats, scored 11 runs, with five doubles, 12 walks, was 7-for-7 stolen base attempts, was hit by pitch twice, 0.382 on-base percentage, 0.315 slugging percentage and 0.222 batting average.

The Falcons had a 5-14 record in WEC games, 6-17 overall.

WEC standings were: Hinton, 19-1 conference, 22-3 overall; Remsen-St. Mary’s, 14-6, 21-8; Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, 13-6, 17-7; Spalding Catholic, 12-8, 18-11; Remsen Union 12-8, 13-10; Akron-Westfield, 9-10, 13-14; Gehlen Catholic, 9-10, 11-12; South O’Brien, 8-12, 11-14; West Sioux, 5-14, 6-16; Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, 4-15, 7-17; and Unity Christian, 3-17, 8-22.
