Jeremy Clarey of Akron passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 16, 2013, near Akron.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. Reverend Doug Klein and Deacon Richard Port will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 23 with the family present after 4:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. There will be a Parish Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron is in charge of arrangements. Jeremy Lee Clarey was born October 3, 1976 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Terrance “Terry” and Lynette (Lane) Clarey. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron-Westfield High School in 1995. During high school, Jeremy participated in football, wrestling, baseball, and track. Following high school, he attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska for two years.

Following college, Jeremy worked in sales and later in construction. He married Jyllane Ross in 2000. To this union, three children were born, Ross, Brodie, and Logan. They later divorced. Jeremy was currently working in construction in the Akron area.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. During grade school, Jeremy traveled to the Philippines to attend World Youth Day. Jeremy was a black belt in taekwondo. Through the years, he enjoyed watching motorsports events, especially NASCAR and demolition derbies. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Jeremy enjoyed bowling and participating in many leagues. He loved to go boating and fishing with his family and friends. But most of all, he loved the time spent with his children. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his five children: Kylee Knipper, Ross Clarey, Brodie Clarey, Logan Clarey, and Billy Clarey; his parents: Terry and Lynette Clarey of Akron; a special friend: Jolene McMahon of Akron and her children, Jess, Rylee, Haden, and Jorja; his siblings: Angela Clarey of Sioux City, IA, Brandi Cox of Akron, Tiffany (Dave) Bowstead of West Des Moines, IA, and Ashley Clarey (fiancé Ryan Randels) of Omaha, NE; his god parents: Wayne Henry and Teresa Moring; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Bill and Iona Clarey; his maternal grandparents: Kenneth and Norma Lane; and a special friend: Tud.
