Road work slated to close C-44 in Merrill

Pavement replacement work which was expected to begin Aug. 21, weather permitting, required the closing of Plymouth County Road C-44/ Main Street west of U.S. 75 in Merrill, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Sioux City construction office.

The closure of Plymouth County Road C-44 is expected to last for three weeks. Motorists are encouraged to follow the signed detour routes according to a DOT press release Aug. 14.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area; and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
