Body of Akron man found near Big Sioux River

Authorities are waiting for the results of an autopsy before making a determination on the cause of an Akron man’s death.

According to Plymouth County sheriff’s reports, on Aug. 16, a body was found at 19001 Hwy 12 near Akron in a heavily wooded and overgrown area along the Big Sioux River after communications center dispatchers received a report of a person missing since the morning of Aug. 15.

The body was of 36-year-old Jeremy Lee Clarey, who lived at 131 Third St. Apt. 1 in Akron. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and Akron Police Department were assisted by the Akron Ambulance Service.
