West Sioux’s volleyball team posted a 1-2 tournament record at the Central Lyon tournament at Rock Rapids Sept. 14 in pool play.

The Lady Falcons’ win was a 21-14, 21-12 verdict against Elsworth. Set scores were first-to-21 in pool play and best two-of-three sets.

The Lady Falcons then lost to Central Lyon, 21-14, 21-18.

Harris Lake Park beat West Sioux, 21-19, 24-22.

The Lady Falcons had a 5-7 season record after the tournament.

“The team started off slow and did not gain some real traction until the third match. Our match scores prove it. We also had a different lineup since we were missing Callie Schmidt on the right side. Brooke Klemme stepped in and did a nice job. I’m more and more impressed with our sophomores Amanda Mace and Allyson Westra. Amanda is proving to be a defensive leader on the court and showing some great passing skills. Allyson is doing a great job at the net and really battled with some big blocks at this tournament. Shannon Jasper had three solid matches along with Rylee Negaard and Jenna Rehder. Calena Topete is also getting better and better at reading the ball on defense and improving her digging. Carly Dekkers was slow getting started but the last match she really stepped it up and had some exciting kills and blocks,” said West Sioux Coach Laura Hensley.
