Hinton beats WS spikers

Hinton beat West Sioux 3-0 in a War Eagle Conference volleyball match Sept. 10 in the Blackhawks’ gym.

Hinton prevailed 25-12, 25-16, and 25-13.

WS fell to 4-5 record with the loss while Hinton was 6-2.

“The girls played really well against a tough team with some amazing hitters. Calena Topete had a great night of passing along with Rylee Negaard and Amanda Mace. Jenna Rehder set a great game and was sold both offensively and defensively. At the net we struggled getting around their block and getting our block crossed but overall I was happy with the girls’ performance,” said WS Coach Laura Hensley.


For kills Shannon Jasper and Negaard had three each; Carly Dekkers, Callie Schmidt, Allyson Westra and Rehder all had one. The team had a total of 11 kills.

Jasper had three total blocks.

For digs Negaard had seven, Calena Topete six; Mace two; Dekkers, Jasper and Schmidt had one each.

For assists Rehder had nine and Schmidt had one.

For aces Mace, Schmidt and Negaard all had one. The Lady Falcons were 26-of-36, 0.684 percent.
