West Sioux cross country runners competed at the Alcester-Hudson Invitational held at Alcester, S.D., Golf Course Sept. 23.

Jose Montes finished in 12th place in the varsity boys’ division with a time of 18:43.01 for the Falcons’ best finish.

Hailey Pullman finished in 15th place in the varsity girls’ division with a time of 18:11.10.

Janelle Padilla was 24th in the Junior Varsity girls’ race with a time of 18:15.97.

Devin Mandicino was 41st in the Junior Varsity boys’ race with a time of 19:47. Josh Monsma ran 61st with a time of 22:03.

“This always seems to turn out to be a fairly tough meet. A lot of good, quality runners and a difficult route with some rolling hills. We looked a little tired after a string of meets over the past week but did manage to fight through it and run for some medals in the varsity. We will have a break after Thursday (Sept. 26 at Sioux Center) to recover from the continuous competition over the past two weeks,” said West Sioux Coach Duane Sperle.

West Sioux will host its own invitational at 4:30 p.m., Oct. 10 at the Hawarden Golf Course.

The War Eagle Conference meets will be at Hawarden Golf Course at 4:30 p.m., Oct. 14.

The Falcons will host a Class 1A State Qualifying meet at 4:30 p.m., Oct. 24 at the Hawarden Golf Course.
