West Sioux volleyball coach Laura Hensley speaks to the team between a match with Unity Christian.

Whether it be Homecoming hoopla or Unity Christian of Orange City’s superiority in the War Eagle Conference, the West Sioux volleyball team tried but was not a factor in a 3-0 sweep by the Lady Knights Sept. 26.

The Lady Knights won 25-7, 25-14 and 25-9 over the Lady Falcons.

The Lady Falcons did have a strong turnout for the match in Orange City, with the football team and some recent alumni in attendance, but the home team dominated from the start. The match took only 45 minutes.

WS’s best set was the second. They reached 10 points with Callie Schmidt serving and finished with 14 under Shannon Jasper’s serving. Rylee Negaard had an ace.

West Sioux dropped to a 9-10 record.

Unity Christian, ranked No. 10 in Class 3A, was 12-4, 5-0 in WEC matches.
