A-W JV Football Loses Close Battle with WC

In the first JV football game of the year, A-W lost in a close battle with Woodbury Central on September 3rd in Moville.

Woodbury Central started with a 52-yard run and attempted a 2 point conversion, but failed.

Akron-Westfield’s Dylan Irizarry ran for a 45-yard touchdown. A-W attempted a 2-point conversion, but was unsuccessful. This made the score tied at 6-6.

Woodbury Central had a 75-yard touchdown run with 29 seconds left on a hook and ladder play. This concluded the game with the final score being WC 12, A-W 6.

Leading A-W’s offense were Dylan Irizarry with 10 carries for 105 yards with 1 touchdown run of 45 yards. Cal Eskra had 11 carries for 36 yards, passing 2 for 6 for 11 yards. Zach Bosse had 3 carries for 18 yards.

Leading the Westerner defense were Tanner Coyle, 7 tackles; Matt Toben, 5 tackles; Spenser Wardrip, 5 tackles and 1 sac. Montana Jackson, Zach Bosse, and Joel Brenner all had 4 tackles. Dylan Irizarry also had 4 tackles with 1 interception. Alex Wilken made 3 tackles and 1 interception. Andy Bowman added 3 tackles.
