On Oct. 6, at 5:55 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on Iowa Highway 10, three miles east of Hawarden.
Phyllis Winterfeld, age 86, of Ireton, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Iowa Highway 10. Rodolfo Gaytan, age 35, of Hawarden, was driving a 2004 Honda Accord eastbound on Iowa Highway 10. Winterfeld crossed the center of the roadway striking Gaytan’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. The Chevrolet sustained about $8,000 in damages. The Honda sustained an estimated $9,000 in damages.
Winterfeld was cited for failing to yield half of the roadway.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
Joshua Worster, age 28, of Hawarden, was charged with driving with a revoked or suspended driver’s license and operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended on Oct. 6 at 10th Street and Avenue F in Hawarden.
