On Thursday, September 26, 2013, the Akron-Westfield freshmen football team ended up as the top dog with a close battle with LeMars Public.
Leading the way for the Westerner offense were Tristin Golden with 14 carries for 102 yards and 1 touchdown, Kyle Johnson 7 carries for 15 yards, and Jayden Harms with 4 carries for 7 yards. Johnson was 9 for 19 passing for 78 yards.
Aaron Allard received 5 catches for 56 yards, Austin Allard completed 1 catch for 7 yards, Harms had 2 catches for 7 yards, and Golden had 1 catch for 8 yards.
Montana Jackson led the tackles with 10, 4 QB sacks, and 1 fumble recovery. Golden added 5 tackles and 1 QB sack. Aaron Allard, Sebastian Berg, Austin Allard, Jayden Harms, Kane Martinac, and Ty DeRocher had 5 tackles each.
Scoring was as followed, Golden started with a 3 yard touchdown run and the 2 point conversion was good. A-W had a safety which brought the score to A-W 10, LeMars 0. LeMars fought back with a 21 yard touchdown run but their extra point failed.
The final score was A-W 10, LeMars 6. The freshmen record stands at an astonishing 3-0.
