A-W swept by Blackhawks

On Oct. 15, Akron-Westfield’s volleyball team traveled to Hinton to take on the state-ranked, No. 8 in Class 2A, Blackhawks, in a War Eagle Conference contest.

The host, Blackhawks, swept the Lady Westerners, 3-0. Set scores were 25-6, 25-18 and 25-12.

A-W dropped to 9-9 record with the loss.

Bethany Eastman had three kills, one dig and two total blocks.

Jordan Hansen had three digs and 7-of-7 serving with one ace.

Ann Hedlund had one dig and 4-of-4 serving with one ace.

Dana Hedlund had one kill, 10 assists, four digs and 11-of-11 serving with one ace.

Kortney Hedlund had one kill, four digs and 6-of-6 serving.

Desi Oltmanns had one assist and two digs.

Bailey Davis had three digs.

Sarah Schroeder had three kills, one total block and 3-of-4 serving.

Kayla Tindall had three kills, two digs and 3-of-4 serving.

Cali Westergard had one total block.

The Lady Westerners had 11 kills, 11 assists, 20 digs, four total blocks and 34-of-36 serving and two aces.

Akron-Westfield’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Elk Point-Jefferson in non-conference play Oct. 12 away.

Set scores were 25-14, 25-9 and 25-21 for the EP-J Huskies. A-W’s record fell to 9-8.
