Greg Hope of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Oct. 24, 2013. Funeral services were on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo with Rev. Nate Magloughlin officiating. His burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Greg was born July 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, Calif., to Leland and Dorothy Hope. He graduated from Akron High School, in Akron, Iowa. Greg served his country first, by serving three years with the U.S. Navy, and then joined the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and made a career serving a total of 21 years on active duty. He married the love of his life, Wanita Jones, in Cherokee, Iowa on Aug. 28, 1966. Greg was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, and doing yard work. He was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Rebekah Bohnert and a nephew, Randy Hope. The family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to Dr. Forero and the staff at Texas Oncology, and also to Sandy and Jimmy with Interim Hospice Care.
Greg’s survivors include his wife: Wanita Hope; son: Keith Hope and wife Patti of Amarillo; daughter: Susan Bohnert and husband Tom of Thailand; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Bohnert, Dylan Hope, Rachel Bohnert, Sarah Hope, Micah Bohnert; brother: Gary Hope and wife Joyce of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister: Sandy Hope of Amarillo; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
