Hawarden Food Pantry’s holiday spirit showed in a pre-Thanksgiving meal distribution effort at American Lutheran Church.

“We gave out about 75 meals with enough ingredients for them to make a turkey meal. On the regular monthly times, the fourth Friday, we see about 40 families a month and not all come every month,” said coordinator Jan Cain.

About 15 volunteers helped on Thursday night and Nov. 22 to make sure all went smoothly. Siouxland Food Bank drops off the regular monthly food supply. Helpers include West Sioux FFA members.

Food collections of late have included one at West Sioux Elementary School.
