Dec. 8: The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Eagle Avenue two and one-half miles north of Ireton.
Ramon Vazquez-Ramirez, age 23, of Rock Valley, was driving a 1986 Jeep Cherokee northbound on Eagle Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the southbound lane, entered the west ditch where his vehicle rolled several times into a cornfield. The accident was reported at 7:17 a.m.
Ramirez was wearing his seat belt but was partially ejected out of the driver’s side window.
Ramirez was transported by Hawarden Ambulance to Hawarden Regional Healthcare for treatment of severe injuries. He was later transported to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Hawarden Ambulance, Ireton Fire Department and Ireton Ambulance.
