WSES hosts Literacy Night event

“Warm Up With a Good Fit Book” was the theme for West Sioux Elementary School’s Literacy Night held Nov. 21.

On a cold and wintry night many families attended the wintry night. They learned about how books “Fits Like a Glove”; “Inferring Indoors”; “Phonics on Fire”; uzzy Frenzy” and “Cuddle Up” in various sessions. Staff coordinating the sessions were dressed in hats and mittens.

For example “Cuddle Up & Check for Understanding” was handled by teacher Carrie Wilkison.

Michelle Swanson read a book in “Inferring Indoors” in learning how to infer details to an audience in the school library.

“It just happens to be National Parents Get Involved Day. We always encourage our parents to get involved,” said WSES Principal Carrie Thonstad.

High school students also helped out.
