Hawarden Public Library offers several programs on varying topics in January. For more information call the library at 551-2244.
The schedule includes the following events
Jan. 2: from 11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., adults may join the library at “There’s Snow Better Time to Read.” It is open to all adults.
Jan. 6: from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in the meeting room, learn to download books, music and magazines during a program for residents of Hawarden, Ireton and rural Sioux County. Learn all about Wilbor, Zinio and Freegal.
Please sign up for this class due to a need to have the right number of handouts for all. Participants should bring their laptop, tablet or other device with them that evening and you can download the apps ahead of time.
Jan. 8: Computer Basics will be presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Learn the basics about using a computer. Learn the terms, find the parts of the program and learn how to maintain it. The program is open to the public. Participants should have an ability to know the keyboard and type.
Jan. 9: Story Hour Lunch will be offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., partnering with Iowa Public Television. Join the library for a preschool story hour, for ages 3 through 5 and their parents. Call the library to register.
Jan. 15: from 1 to 2:30 p.m., the library will present a session on Google Email. Set up an account, learn to forward and reply plus learn about attachments. This will be hands-on class for those unfamiliar with e-mail.
Movie matinees are offered with free movies and popcorn each Thursday at 1 p.m.
Tech Tuesdays are offered from 12 to 5 p.m. each Tuesday at the library. Drop by the library on Tuesday afternoon and have questions answered about downloading books, music and more.
