Sioux County sheriffs’ report

Dec. 16: The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Iowa Highway 18 and Sheridan Street in Boyden.

Matthew Spaans, age 31, of Hawarden, was driving a 1978 Kenworth semi-tractor pulling a Wilson grain trailer eastbound on Highway 18. Peter Boer, age 86, of Sanborn, was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram truck southbound on a residential driveway. Boer attempted to turn left onto Highway 18 when he stuck the semi’s trailer.

No injuries were reported.

The Dodge sustained about $4,000 in damages. The Wilson trailer sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages.

Boer was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway.

Dec. 23: The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Sioux County 420th Street, two miles northeast of Hawarden.

Andrew Den Herder, age 27, of Sioux Center was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Classic westbound on 420th Street when he struck a deer on the roadway.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet sustained about $2,000 in damages.
