West Lyon sweeps WS on hardwood

West Sioux teams lost two non-conference basketball games to West Lyon Jan. 11 in Inwood.

Boys’ game

The boys fell to the second-ranked Wildcats, 64-25.

The Wildcats, 10-0 record, led 18-0 after one quarter.

West Lyon is tied with Gehlen Catholic of Le Mars for second place in the Class 1A state rankings. Kacey Myrtie led the winners with 13 points and Brandon Snyder had 11.

Porter Hummel led the Falcons with nine points. WS had a 4-6 record after the loss.

Girls’ game

Amanda Mace scored 19 points and Rylee Negaard had 11 but West Lyon won, 71-52.

WS was 3-8 overall record after the loss.


Both Falcons’ basketball teams are at Canton, S.D., Jan. 16 in non-conference play and at South O’Brien in Paullina Jan. 17 for a War Eagle Conference clash. WS will host Alcester-Hudson, S.D. at 6 p.m., Jan. 21, in non-conference action. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn will visit WS Jan. 24.

All games are girls-boys doubleheaders.
