On Jan. 16, at 1:29 p.m. the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on Eagle Avenue, one mile south of Ireton.
Duane Riepema, age 64, of Craig, was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmy northbound on Eagle Avenue. Joel Tewes, age 57, of Primghar, was driving a 2009 Peterbuilt semi-tractor pulling a cattle trailer northbound on Eagle Avenue behind Riepema. Tewes’ vehicle struck the rear of Riepema’s vehicle on the roadway.
No injuries were reported.
The GMC sustained about $3,000 in damages. The Peterbuilt sustained about $1,000 in damages.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department.
The incident was one of 10 accidents that the Sheriff’s Office investigated during the Winter weather storm Jan. 16.
