Hinton’s girls’ basketball team scored 23 points in both of the first two quarters of play as the Blackhawks improved their record to 12-0 with a 73-39 win over West Sioux Jan. 14.
Alex Yorger led the winners with 18 points and two others scored in double figures.
“Hinton has a good club. They’ll make a run in Class 2A. For us, we handled the ball better and we can build on it,” said West Sioux Coach Dave Schweder.
Rylee Negaard and Amanda Mance had nine points eaach for the Lady Falcons. Carly Dekkers added eight points.
Allyson Westra, Amanda Mace and Callie Schmidt shared rebounding honors with five.
West Sioux had a more competitive second half, winning it 30-27. The Lady Falcons were 3-9 overall record after the loss.

Lady Falcons’ team totals: 39 points, 15-of-51 all field goal attempts, 2-of-8 three-point field goal attempts, 7-of-9 free throw attempts, 31 rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals.
Schedule note: the Lady Falcons played at Canton, S.D., Jan. 20 as games last Thursday were postponed.

All are 6 p.m. starts for the girls games and are girls-boys doubleheaders.

The Lady Falcons fell to South O’Brien, 70-28, in WEC play Jan. 17 in Paullina. WS had a 3-10 record after the loss. South O’Brien was 11-3 overall.
