WS girls end regular season

Gehlen Catholic beat West Sioux 70-41 in a War Eagle Conference girls basketball game to close the regular season Feb. 11 in Le Mars.

For the Lady Falcons, Rylee Negaard had 11 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Senior Carly Dekkers had nine points and four rebounds. Allyson Westra contributed eight points. Amanda Mace had seven points and four steals.

West Sioux trailed 14-11 after one quarter but the Lady Jays had a 40-13 run in the second and third quarters to pull away.

WS ended the regular season 4-18 record, 4-6 in WEC games.

Loss to Storm Lake St. Mary’s

St. Mary in Storm Lake beat the Lady Falcons 52-44 there in non-conference play Feb. 10.

Rehder scored 19 points and Negaard added 17. Westra led in rebounds with 10. Mace and Schmidt had six rebounds each.

West Sioux trailed 18-15 at halftime and 38-32 after three quarters. The Lady Falcons were 9-of-24 from the free-throw line.

The Lady Falcons lost to Central Lyon in Rock Rapids, 56-36, Feb. 13 in Class 1A regional action to end their season. The final record for the Lady Falcons was 4-19. Mace had 16 points. Negaard added nine points.

Central Lyon had a 9-14 overall record.
