A-H spiker star McKee signs with Red Raiders

Courtney McKee of Hawarden has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball and softball career at Northwestern College in 2014-2015.

McKee is a 5-8 setter who earned four letters while playing for the Alcester-Hudson volleyball team in Alcester, S.D. McKee earned Second Team All-State honors after leading the team to a fourth place finish at the state tournament and a 32-4 overall record for the Cubs.

McKee was named to the all-tournament team at state and was also selected to the cover of the Power Promotions S.D. volleyball preview magazine. McKee totaled 513 digs and 124 aces, serving 92 percent for her four-year career.

A member of the National Honor Society, McKee plans to major in biology/health professions at Northwestern, located in Orange City.

“Courtney has had an outstanding high school career. We look forward to her contributions to our campus and volleyball program. Courtney will add depth to our setter group and we are excited that Courtney is going to be a Red Raider,” said Northwestern Volleyball Head Coach Kyle Van Den Bosch.

McKee has played multiple years for the Sioux Falls, S.D. Diamonds Club softball team. An outfielder, McKee hit 0.400 batting average with four extra-base hits and 17 stolen bases last year. She helped lead her team to a fourth place finish at the Midwest Nationals Softball Tournament played in Columbus, Ohio.

“Courtney is an excellent student and a great fit for the Northwestern College community. She is a very good athlete who has good strength and speed. We are pleased that Courtney has decided to continue her softball and college career at Northwestern,” said Northwestern Head Softball Coach Chris Nachtigall.
