A-W AAU spikers teams make state

Akron-Westfield Community School hosted sixth and eighth grade AAU girls volleyball tournaments March 8. Both A-W teams qualified for state, March 22, by finishing in the top two.

The eighth grade team was the champion beating the Remsen Slammers, 21-14, 21-13. They had beaten Kingsley in the frist round.

The A-W sixth grade took second losing to Gehlen Net Ninjas. The sixth grade team beat Dakota Valley in the first round.

Sixth grade state for AAU is at Marshalltown while eighth graders head to Indianola. Saturday was the last weekend to qualify for state.
