Linda Hemmelrick, 54, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Reverend Paul Eisele will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, with a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Linda Marie Gotto was born December 14, 1959 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Loretta (McDermott) Gotto. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1978. She attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City where received her dental assisting degree.

She was united in marriage to Brett Hemmelrick on April 25, 1981 in Le Mars. Early on, they made their home on acreage near Akron until moving to acreage near Le Mars. Linda worked as a dental assistant for Drennen and Kehm Dentistry in Le Mars for 12 years until going to work for Wells’ Dairy in Le Mars for 21 years. She then returned to dental assisting Dr. Kehm until being diagnosed with leukemia. She also worked as a waitress for the Golden Pheasant in Remsen and Lally’s Eastside in Le Mars.

She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she was currently serving as President of the Court Santa Maria #179. Linda enjoyed making “Memory Bears” for children that have lost a loved one. But most of all, she loved the times spent with her many friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Brett of Le Mars; her daughters: Mandi (Erik) Ackerman of Napa, CA, and their son, Tristan, and Megan Hemmelrick (Justin Riggle) of Waterloo, IA, and their son, Kaj; her mother in law: Betty Hemmelrick of Akron, IA; her siblings: Karen Hagar of Le Mars, Marlene (Mike) Gengler of Le Mars, Donna Hoffman of Le Mars, Larry “Buzz” Gotto of Le Mars, JoEllen (Larry) Mullally of Marcus, IA, Patty (Tom) Mullally of Le Mars, and Vicki (Jeff) Lamp of Ankeny, IA; her in laws: Brian (Kris) Hemmelrick of Sioux Falls, SD, Wade Hemmelrick of Cedar Rapids, IA, Wes (Mindi) Hemmelrick of New Hampshire, Missy (Jim) Bundy of Akron, IA, and Troy (Kari) Hemmelrick of Akron, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Loretta Gotto; and her brothers in law: Bob Hagar and Charles Hoffman.
