Akron-Westfield’s boys golf team finished eighth of 10 teams at the Unity Christian Golf Invitational at Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City April 12.
The Westerners had a 360 team score.
Individually, Tavian Banks led with an 82 for eighth overall; Alex Foley shot a 91; Austin Allard had an 92; Tyler Waterbury shot an 85; Kevin Carlson shot an 87 and Wyatt Heyl had 105.
“An 82 is a very good score for a high school kid on that course. He was three shots from third place. The course was a good challenge for the rest of the team,” said A-W Head Coach Todd Colt.
Western Christian won the team title. Team standings were as follows: Western Christian, 326; Boyden-Hull, 336; Sioux Center, 337; Storm Lake, 343; Hinton, 345; Luverne, Minn., 349; MOC-Floyd Valley, 358; A-W, 360; South O’Brien, 363; and Unity Christian, 365.
“We’re waiting for the weather to allow us to play every day,” said Colt. A match April 14 against Remsen Union was postponed to April 24.
