Not only do prospective preschoolers go to class at Akron-Westfield’s annual Kindergarten Roundup, their parents attend informational classes.

Some parents and prospective students even got their first “snow day” as the second day of Kindergarten Roundup, April 4, was cancelled due to a winter storm and rescheduled to Monday, April 14.

After the two days of Kindergarten Roundup, Grades Preschool-6 Principal Cathy Bobier told The Akron Hometowner, “At the present time we have 61 students: 17 students in Discovergarten and 44 students in Kindergarten (for next year).

At the beginning of this school year, there were 37 Kindergarteners and 28 Discovergartners for a total of 65 students.

This fall’s first day of Akron-Westfield classes is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21. The school board will finalize the district’s 2014-2015 calendar at their May meeting.
