Akron-Westfield Youth Football (AWYF) registration forms were sent home with students this week and need to be returned to school by May 9, team officials announced.
Students in Grades 3-6 during the 2014-2105 school year are eligible to play.
There will be no equipment fitting this Spring, but parents are encouraged to register your child now for the Fall football season.
As in 2013, the Westerners will be competing against four other area leagues to play a five-game schedule. The other leagues include Hawarden, Gehlen Catholic, Sioux Center and Orange City. Registration fee of $75 will be charged. There will be a cookie dough fundraiser held to help reimburse all or part of the fees. AWYF will again be offering scholarships to those families who cannot afford the full registration fee.
Highlights for the AWYF 2014 season include the following:
Registration is due by May 9.
A youth football camp run by the Akron-Westfield High School football team members will take place from 6 to 7 p.m., on July 24 and 25.
Aug. 4 is the first week of practice.
Games will be scheduled for Aug. 23, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
On Aug. 28 there will be a Thursday night scrimmage against Hawarden at Akron-Westfield Community School.
