Hawarden will be hosting two Olympians with a local connection on Sunday.
Caitlin and Brian Gregg will be the guests for an Open House Reception from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 at the Hawarden Golf Course Clubhouse.
Brian Gregg was selected for the U.S. Ski Team and competed in the 2014 Olympics held in Sochi, Russia in February. Brian raced in three cross-country events. Prior to the Olympics, Brian placed second in the 30K race at the U.S. National Championships in January.
Brian’s wife, Caitlin, competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada. She took sixth place in the Team Sprint skiing event. Caitlin recently won her fourth national title in winning the 20K mass start freestyle ski race by nearly four minutes at the U.S. National Championships.
Brian is the nephew of Glenn and LaVonne Gregg of Hawarden and is the son of former Hawarden resident Jim Gregg and his wife, Jan, who will also be attending the reception.
The Olympians will also be presenting an assembly for the Hawarden Elementary students on Monday to share their experiences.
