Plant Swap to benefit Akron Area Museum

Posted April 25, 2014 at 3:33 pm

The Akron Historical Society’s Landscape Committee is planning a PLANT SWAP. We need plants! We are looking for plant owners who are looking to thin out their existing flower beds and are willing to donate at least one plant to the Akron Area Museum. Each plant owner can then either swap/or sell your plants to our many visitors.

Only plants on the needed list will be accepted. Plant Owner/Swappers must donate at least one type of plant (on museum plant list) to the Akron Historical Society.

If plant owners/swappers don’t have those specific plants, the Society requests they make a small donation to the fund so members can purchase what they need.

If plant owners/swappers “sell” plants, the Society asks they give 20 percent of their sales to the Akron Historical Society as a donation. If plant owners/swappers donate five or more needed plants to the museum, the sales percentage is reduced from 20 percent to 10 percent.

Any and all plants not donated to the museum are to be taken home by the original plant owner/swapper.

To rent a space to sell plants, there is a $20 deposit for a space. If the Plant Owner/Swapper is a “no show,” the deposit becomes a donation to the Akron Historical Society. If plant owners/swappers come to the event, they will be given back their $20 deposit at the end of the event.

This event will be done rain or shine from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at the Akron Area Museum, 601 Main St., Akron.
