For the first time in about 50 years, Ireton City Hall has some new features, made possible by recent renovations.
The most notable feature is the remodeling of City Administrator Carol Liston’s office.
The entrance door was replaced with a more sturdy door, which allows the bottom half to be shut while the top half remains open.
The other door in her office, which faced into the large community room, was removed and replaced with a window.
On Monday, Devin Van Der Brink of VDB Flooring of Ireton was finishing installing the flooring by gluing the carpet to the molding.
A storage room at the other end of the community room is being remodeled into an office for Mayor Jim Lewis.
At their April 21 meeting, councilors discussed storage options for the items that had been stored in that room but took no action on the matter.
In the community room, the “library” book exchange received new carpet last December. People can donate books as well as exchange books at this library.
Furthermore, City Hall’s exterior door was also replaced.
City Hall is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
