Dennis Lee Lorensen of Lead, S.D., formerly of Akron, passed away May 4, 2014, in Deadwood, S.D. Graveside services were held on May 9, 2014 at the Plymouth Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Akron. A luncheon followed the service at Plymouth Presbyterian Church.
Dennis was born on June 24, 1942, in Akron, to Dorothea and Leslie Lorensen. He was later joined by one brother, Larry. Dennis attended school in Akron and Vermillion, S.D. where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech.
On February 4, 1968, he married Beverly Frank in Anthon, Iowa. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Air Force. His life’s career was with the U.S. Postal Service as a postmaster in several small cities in South Dakota. He enjoyed Cardinals baseball, genealogy and politics.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Lead; his brother, Larry (Judy) Lorensen of Le Mars, Iowa; two nieces, Julie (Perry) Husman of Valencia, Calif., and Dawn (Jason) Freeman of Greer, S.C.; and grandnieces and nephews, Tanner and Taylor Husman, and Caleb and Breden Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a nephew, Brad Lorensen.
