West Sioux played Gehlen Catholic close for four innings in a War Eagle Conference softball game June 25 in Ireton.
But the visiting Jays scored four runs in the fifth inning and pulled away for an 8-2 victory over the Lady Falcons.
Katey Koopmans singled to start the West Sioux fourth inning and scored on a RBI hit by Jena Rehder. Rylee Negaard reached on a single and Dana Schipper had a RBI double for a 3-2 deficit. But the Jays then got the next two outs.
Gehlen Catholic, 14-13 record, then batted around its order in the fifth, the big hit a two-run single by Carly Bunkers. The Lady Falcons, 3-16 record, had five his and one walk off winning pitcher Meghan Heying, who struck out one.
Rehder led the home team with two hits and one RBI.

Koopmans was 1-for-3 hitting with one run scored and one stolen base.
Rehder was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Negaard was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one stolen base.

For pitching Dekkers started and worked five innings, allowing nine hits, two walks and fanned one. Samantha Salker worked two innings, allowing two hits and two walks.
