Negaard homers but Lady Falcons fall

West Sioux softball team’s busy three-game week concluded with a visit to Remsen to take on the state ranked in Class 1A Remsen-St. Mary’s Hawks June 26.

Things started well for the Lady Falcons with a 2-0 lead after one inning. But the Hawks scored four runs in the second inning and although the visitors added another run in the fourth for a 4-3 deficit, the home team added three more runs.

Junior Rylee Negaard led the offense for West Sioux with a home run.

West Sioux had a 3-17 overall record after the loss.

Lady Falcons’ statistics

Amanda Mace was 1-for-3 hitting, one run scored, one stolen base and one walk.

Jenna Rehder was 1-for-4.

Negaard was 1-for-1, 2 runs scored, one home run, 2 RBIs and one walk.

Danna Schipper had one stolen base.

Allyson Westra was 1-for-3.

The Lady Falcons had four hits, three runs, two stolen bases and two walks.

Carly Dekkers took the pitching loss as she allowed eight hits, two walks and struck out two.
