West Sioux’s baseball team gained a milestone 10th win in dramatic fashion with a 3-2, eighth inning win over Unity Christian of Orange City in War Eagle Conference play before a thrilled home crowd July 3.
Unity Christian led 2-0 through the first five innings. The Falcons were not about to be denied this night, scoring twice in the sixth for a 2-2 tie and pushing across the winning run in the eighth inning.
Porter Hummel gained the pitching win and had a double digit strikeout game with 11 compared to just one walk and five hits allowed.
West Sioux won with seven hits and eight walks for a 10-9 record heading into the final week of the regular season.
Tucker Vander Feen was 2-for-2 with one run scored and one walk.
Jake Lynott was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one walk.
Trevor Ericson was 1-for-4.
Hummel reached base three times on walks.
Blankenship was 1-for-5 with an RBI.
Mitch Schlumbohm was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and one stolen base.
Jesus Rivera was 1-for-4 with one double.
