Iowa to offer Individual Disaster Assistance Grant Program

Plymouth, Cherokee, Lyon, and Sioux Counties have been included in a Governor’s Proclamation for Individual Assistance for damages done during the flooding event that started in mid-June. Plymouth, Cherokee, and Sioux, and Lyon County Emergency Management Department has partnered with Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. to facilitate the program.

Citizens who are interested in applying for the assistance program can apply at your local Mid-Sioux Outreach Office. For more information you may also go to and click on the disaster assistance link. This opens a page that contains the application, instructions, and eligibility requirements.

Some of the eligibility requirements include:

• Total household income must be below 200% of poverty income level

• Household’s residence is located in the area identified in the disaster declaration during the designated incident period and the household verifies occupancy at that residence.

• Household members are citizens of the United States or are legally residing in the United States.

Applications will be taken until August 11, 2014.
