Brule Creek Lutheran to celebrate 150th

Brule Creek Lutheran Church congregation is planning a two-day celebration for their church’s 150th Anniversary.

The public is invited to attend the festivities, which will be held the weekend of Aug. 9 and 10 at the church property, 31398 474th Ave., rural Elk Point, S.D. The church is located one mile south and one mile east of Spink, S.D.

Saturday, Aug. 9

The celebration begins at 2 p.m. Saturday with fellowship events until 7 p.m.

From 3 to 4 p.m., the Noteables Accordion Group will perform.

From 4 – 7 p.m., The One Way Up Praise Band will perform. Local musician and song writer Craig Winquist is a member of this band.

There will be a lunch stand and children will enjoy a small inflatable castle, train rides, games and making sidewalk chalk art.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and bug repellent.

Sunday, Aug. 10

At 9:30 a.m., a church service with communion will be held.

Anyone may join in singing with the Brule Creek Church Choir. Contact Clarice Paulson at 605-934-2094 for more information.

A 150th Anniversary Group Photograph will be taken following the service.

Memorabilia Orders

From 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on Sunday there will be a catered meal featuring broasted chicken and pork chops. Tickets must be ordered and paid for by July 31. To get tickets, contact Carol Welch at 605-565-3469.

Memorabilia is also for sale. T-shirts must be ordered by July 22. In addition, there are coffee mugs, blankets, bell-shaped crystal ornaments, flashlight pens, notepads and 125th Anniversary DVD sets.
