WS cross country includes state qualifier returning

Led by returning state meet qualifier Hailey Pullman, the West Sioux cross country teams are ready to do battle in 2014.

Pullman was the first Falcon to qualify for the state meet since 2008. She is a sophomore this year.

For the girls, the only senior is Janelle Padilla, there are no juniors. Sophomores are Delia Armenta and Pullman, and freshmen are Emma Avery and Vanessa Bueso.

Head Coach Duane Sperle encouraged the squad to do a summer running program.

There are only two runners on the boys’ team, freshmen Trevor Reed and Logan Veen-Strege.

The Falcons open the season at Sioux City Bishop Heelan’s meet on Friday, Aug. 29.

West Sioux’s next meet is at Galva-Holstein at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13.

West Sioux is at Sioux City West on Friday, Sept. 18; at Vermillion, S.D., Saturday, Sept. 19; at Alcester-Hudson Sept. 22; at Sioux Center, Sept. 25; will host a meet Oct. 9 at Hawarden Golf Course; will be at the War Eagle Conference meet at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in Marcus Oct. 13.
