Members of the Akron Friendship & Service Club recently presented donations to area projects.  Donations were made possible from proceeds of the 2023 Great Akron Scarecrow Festival.

Helping Hearts Club holds annual Christmas party

The Helping Hearts Club gathered at the home of Deb McPherson Dec. 11 for their annual Christmas party. A gift grab bag exchange containing either a Christmas ornament or Christmas decoration was held along with items donated by club members for a member who is in the nursing home. Immanuel Lutheran Church’s noisy offering now has a total of $746.38 for Operation Christmas Child to pay shipping for their Christmas shoebox gifts. Sixty-eight boxes were delivered to the collection point on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Many decades ago Immanuel Lutheran Church used to share its Scandinavian heritage by hosting a Lutefisk supper the first Sunday in Advent. However, that has changed but some new traditions have taken its place.

​​​​​​​AOH hosts Christmas with Triumphant Sound Quartet

The Akron Opera House was the place to be Dec. 8 and 9 to hear the wonderful music of the Triumphant Sound Quartet. The event was sponsored by Akron FBC making the concert free to those attending. However, there was a freewill basket for donations which all went to the Akron Opera House restoration project.
