Akron-Westfield School gets ready to install a new track

At their last meeting, the construction of a new track and football stadium was approved by the Akron-Westfield School Board. This will be the first time the school has had an official track, and the sporting facility has been needed for a long time.

Peoples Bank has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2023 honor by Iowa Top Workplaces.

Double feature fall fun will be coming to the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars this Saturday, Sept. 30, when a Le Mars author and veterinarians of Plymouth County are in the spotlight at the Museum’s Study Hall.

About 100 Legionnaires and Auxiliary members will be arriving in Akron the evening of Oct. 6 to attend the American Legion Ninth District Fall Conference, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 7.

Fundraising campaign underway for building

Teenagers from Akron’s First Baptist Church attended a Youth Rally hosted by Bible Baptist Church in Brookings, South Dakota. The event, held over the weekend, offered a day of faith, fellowship and enjoyment.

The 23rd annual Great Akron Scarecrow Festival, hosted by the GWC Friendship & Service Club, was held Sept. 16 in the Akron City Park. It was a beautiful day for a festival and a large crowd attended the event. This booth, built by Harold Higman, Jr., greeted visitors in the Akron City Park at the festival.

New Horizons donates to American Legion

Residents will have one day to get rid of unwanted items
