During their September 19 board meeting, the Akron Care Center Board received the resignation of current administrator Patricia Raasch. The resignation goes into effect on September 29 and was accepted unanimously.

At their last meeting, the construction of a new track and football stadium was approved by the Akron-Westfield School Board. This will be the first time the school has had an official track, and the sporting facility has been needed for a long time.

Teenagers from Akron’s First Baptist Church attended a Youth Rally hosted by Bible Baptist Church in Brookings, South Dakota. The event, held over the weekend, offered a day of faith, fellowship and enjoyment.

The 23rd annual Great Akron Scarecrow Festival, hosted by the GWC Friendship & Service Club, was held Sept. 16 in the Akron City Park. It was a beautiful day for a festival and a large crowd attended the event. This booth, built by Harold Higman, Jr., greeted visitors in the Akron City Park at the festival.
